Many students in a regular classroom need to see information in order to learn. With the powerful combination of visual learning and technology, students learn to clarify thoughts, organize and analyze information, and to think critically.
As the development of ICT tools used in classrooms continues to evolve, children need to re-position themselves as digital natives to keep up with the changing learning environment. Using innovative tools allows students to express themselves in ways they may not be able to in a traditional classroom setting. When used effectively, such tools have the potential to successfully transform the class from being teacher-centered to student-centered.
In this workshop, we will show how to implement simple yet effective ICT tools in content areas to engage learners. We will give a hands-on workshop on different tools namely QR Codes, Popplet and Thinglink. We will give suggestions on how they can be utilized in various subject areas. At the same time, we will showcase how we have used those tools with our third and fourth grade students.
Various student examples will also be on hand to demonstrate the effectiveness of these tools. Join us for this hands-on workshop to explore creative ways to enrich our students learning in the 21st century.
